BUYING & SELLING Do you have some jewellery pieces you never wear? Do you have some old designs that just don't fit your style? Looking to get rid of a ring that's lost its' sentimental value? As seen in the rest of this website, Iorio Fine Jewelleery has an extensive collection of vintage pieces available for sale. Well, we also purchase jewellery of every kind from private sellers and estate sales. We regret this is a service primarily handled in store as our gemologists and trained staff must physically see the items to make an offer -- whether you are selling rings, chains, earrings, loose stones, watches, or pretty much anything. Like most jewellery stores, we make an offer to buy it based on the "scrap" value of the base metals and any stones involved. In other words, we do not pay for the design of the jewellery mainly because we are going to melt it down to create new items. We'll weigh the gold, silver, or platinum metal and pay a certain amount per gram -- based on the daily market rate of that metal. If there are stones (diamonds, rubies, pearls, etc.) we will make individual offers or give a "package price." There is never any obligation for you to sell -- we merely make you the offer. Often customers come to us with diamond rings that have been "appraised" for much higher values than we offer. This is because an insurance appraisal is the "maximum cost" -- typically the maximum you may expect to pay at the most expensive jeweller in the area. To sell jewellery to us you must have photo I.D.(such as a BC driver's license, passport, a BC I.D. card, or similar). NO EXCEPTIONS. We typically pay cash but may pay by check if it is a large purchase or funds are not on hand. All transactions are logged and instantly reported to the RCMP via the Internet, and then items are held for a period of time dictated by the RCMP. After this mandatory "hold period" the items are melted down to be given new life in new designs. You can always find out what our current "buy" price is for the various karats of gold by reviewing our Daily Bullion Price Sheet, updated by 10:00 am, Monday through Friday. The gold, by karat, is listed about two pages down. Come on in and let us make you an offer. You never know. If you have any questions about buying or selling jewellery, please e-mail us at jewellery@jandm.com.
